AI Is Eating Its Own Tail - And It's Getting Messy
I'll be straight with you: I love AI. I've even built an entire company around it. I use it all day, every day, and I've seen it do genuinely incredible things for businesses of all sizes.
But right now? Houston, we have a problem.
"AI slop" is real, and it's multiplying fast!
Every single day I get flooded with emails and LinkedIn messages from what appear to be different people - different names, different addresses - all saying basically the same thing, just reshuffled. AI agents pretending to be humans, pitching garbage services to other AI agents pretending to filter them out. It's bots fighting bots, and the signal-to-noise ratio is getting brutal.
And it's gotten worse.
Now I'm getting emails impersonating my own employees - using their actual names and email addresses - claiming they changed banks and need their payroll updated. I'm getting fake credit card dispute resolutions for disputes I never filed. Why? Because these messages aren't meant for me. They're designed to trick my own AI agents into clicking links, downloading malware, or taking actions in the background that I'd never approve.
This isn't just a spam problem. It's a security problem. And for anyone running AI-powered workflows on frontier models like Claude or ChatGPT - it's also burning real money on wasted tokens.
So where does it end?
Honestly, I don't have all the answers yet - but I'm actively working on it and so should you.
Let's stop feeding the slop machine and use AI for something good.
