Plans, Loops & Todos
For work bigger than one conversation: turn a goal into a plan, let the agent work through it, and keep a running todo list.
Plans
Describe a project at a high level. AgentOS writes a structured plan with prioritized tasks and test criteria:
/plan new "Build a REST API for user management with registration, login,
profile updates and password reset"
Review and run it:
/plan list
/plan status <plan-id>
/plan execute <plan-id> --top 3
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/plan execute <id> | Run all remaining tasks, one at a time |
/plan execute <id> --next 3 | Run the next 3 tasks in order |
/plan execute <id> --top 3 | Run the 3 highest-priority tasks |
/plan execute <id> --ralph | Loop until the whole plan is complete |
Ralph loops
/ralph-loop runs the agent again and again until a task is done. Each pass starts with fresh context, and files in the
workspace carry progress from one pass to the next. This works well for long refactors and test-writing.
/ralph-loop refactor the auth module to use async/await throughout
/ralph-loop --max 5 write unit tests for all controllers in src/controllers/
/ralph-loop --max 10 --file tasks.md work through the task list
/ralph-loop stop
--max caps the number of passes. --file points at a checklist, and the loop ends when every box is checked.
Switch to auto mode first (/mode 2) so the loop doesn't stop for approvals.
Todos
Each workspace has a todo list in .agentos/TODOS.md. Every item has a title, a priority (low,
medium, high, critical), a status (pending, in-progress,
done, cancelled) and optional notes. Manage it in plain language:
Create a high-priority todo: fix the null pointer crash in the payment module.
What are my critical and high priority todos?
Mark the "update README" todo as done.
Pick my three highest-priority pending todos and work through them one at a time.
Todos combine well with schedules: "Every Monday at 9am, summarize my pending todos and tell me what to focus on this week."
